Description/Job Summary

To perform a wide variety of routine duties to assist Painters following established routines or specific instructions and within company safety guidelines.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare materials for the painting process (i.e. Steaming units)
  • Clean Parts, components and complete rigs using solvents, pressure spray cleaner, wiping rags, and other items
  • Mask off areas not requiring painting and remove masking after painting as required
  • Hand smooth rough surfaces by sanding
  • Obtain and position materials required by Painters
  • Change air filters when required in the paint booth
  • Move rigs into and out of paint booths
  • Perform other general duties as required or directed
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations / guidelines

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

The training period for this position:

• One year

Prior Positions/Training:

• Over two years of experience

REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT

Moderate physical demand in handling spray guns, performing painting in all rig areas. Equivalent to frequently exerting average effort; some climbing and strained work positions.

Exposure to various degrees of heat, dust, moisture, fumes and other elements makes the job somewhat disagreeable.

Responsibility for Equipment / Process / Material / Product:

Improper handling, dropping of spray guns or other equipment may result in damages.

Incorrect application of paints, improper colors may result in stripping and/or rework.

Responsible for meeting the objectives of our ISO programs. When there are any questions regarding these programs they shall be directed to your supervisor/manager or the facility ISO representative. Supervisors and managers are responsible for communicating policy and objectives of ISO programs to their employees.

This position is for 2nd shift only.

• Refer questionable matters to proper supervision

• Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition

• Follow prescribed safety regulations

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

• Required to read, write and comprehend English

• Ability to work from schedules, specifications, instructions, shop orders.

• Must be able to use gauges, measuring devices

• Familiar with finish painting methods and techniques, test procedures, and equipment maintenance

• Prefer basic understanding of MFG Pro

• Requires the use of judgment to apply finish coat(s) and trim to finished drilling rigs.

• Must know how to plan work sequences, apply colors, carry out prescribed tests, make adjustments, diagnose and correct faulty operations.
